The Great Escape

Uploaded from the Photobucket iPad App

Yesterday was one of the scariest days of my life. My cat, Kagomei, escaped the confines of the screened in patio to chase down a stray cat who happened to be walking by in our yard. My cat, who is terrified of plastic bags and the sounds of a car, who is a titch overweight and declawed to boot, thinks she can beat up any animal that comes within 20 feet of our home. I had to chase her down barefoot through the street. Once she realized she was outdoors (she's never been outside in her 9 years of life), she became instantly terrified and froze. Upon trying to pick her up, she turned into Kujo. Suffice it to say, I got her safely home. My arm was scratched to bits, my knees scraped up, and she got a bath. Now she's laying in the sunshine acting as though nothing ever happened.

Cats.

  1. I'm happy she didn't get hit by a car or anything. That happened to Buddy (my big lard of a cat-boy) and myself and we almost got hit by a car. Ultra terrifying.

By the way, I love your cats name. Is it from Inuyasha?

    1. It is from Inuyasha! Not a lot of folks get that :) It was a pretty close call, there were cars going by on the road but luckily she ran out of the road and onto the sidewalk.

  3. Oh no! I hate that feeling. I don't have cats but my parents have dogs who like to escape, which is always scary! I'm glad you got her safely home and hope your arm heals quickly! Ouch.

  6. I've ALWAYS worried that my cats would slip their way through my legs and out the door when I come and go. I can completely imagine your distress!

  11. Oh wow I have been there. One time my friends Jack Russell jumped out of the car as she was dropping me off in front of a club. Ha! Had to run after him in full goth gear. Everyone stopped to star at the tall skinny goth chick running screaming down the street after a little white dog!
